چکیده

The Gulf of Mexico (GoM) is an important source oil for the United States and Mexico. There has been growing interest, particularly after Deepwater Horizon spill, in characterizing fungal diversity GoM identifying isolates use bioremediation petroleum event another spill. Most studies have focused on light crude processes, while heavy (HCO) extra-heavy (EHCO) largely ignored. In this work, we evaluated ability obtained from deep-sea sediments Mexican economic exclusive zone (EEZ) to degrade HCO (16–20° API) EHCO (7–10° API). Alternaria sp., Penicillium spp., Stemphylium sp. grew with as sole carbon source. Remarkably, was only isolate able grow source, degrading up 25.6% total 91.3% aromatic fraction, demonstrated by gas chromatography analysis saturate, aromatic, polar fractions. These findings proved be significant, one few fungi reported so far capable untreated a suitable candidate future studies.

Metagenomic analysis and metabolite profiling of deep–sea sediments from the Gulf of Mexico following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill

Marine subsurface environments such as deep-sea sediments, house abundant and diverse microbial communities that are believed to influence large-scale geochemical processes. These processes include the biotransformation and mineralization of numerous petroleum constituents. Thus, microbial communities in the Gulf of Mexico are thought to be responsible for the intrinsic bioremediation of crude ...

Statistical Optimization of Crude Oil Biodegradation by Marinobacter sp. Isolated from Qeshm Island, Iran

Background: Hydrocarbons degradation is principally achieved by microorganisms in natural environments. The extent of hydrocarbons biodegradation is mainly conditioned by environmental factors and its success depends on the optimal condition for the crude oil degrading isolates. Objectives: The aims of the current study was to isolate and identify crude oil degrading bacterium from surface sed...

Heavy metal tolerance in the psychrotolerant Cryptococcus sp. isolated from deep-sea sediments of the Central Indian Basin.

A deep-sea isolate of the psychrotolerant yeast Cryptococcus sp. (NIOCC#PY13) obtained from polymetallic nodule-bearing sediments of the Central Indian Basin was examined for its capacity to grow in the presence of various concentrations of the heavy metal salts i.e., ZnSO4 , CuSO4 , Pb(CH3 COO)2 and CdCl2 . It demonstrated considerable growth in the presence of 100 mg/l concentrations of the a...

Bacillus alveayuensis sp. nov., a thermophilic bacterium isolated from deep-sea sediments of the Ayu Trough.

Two thermophilic, spore-forming strains, TM1(T) and TM5, were isolated from deep-sea sediment (4000 m below sea level) of the Ayu Trough in the western Pacific Ocean. Cells of the two strains were Gram-positive, motile and rod-shaped. Their spores were ellipsoidal, subterminal to terminal and occurred in swollen sporangia. The two strains grew at temperatures up to 65 degrees C and in the pH ra...

Eremophilane-Type Sesquiterpenoids from an Acremonium sp. Fungus Isolated from Deep-Sea Sediments.

Chemical examination of an EtOAc extract of a cultured Acremonium sp. fungus from deep-sea sediments resulted in the isolation of 15 new eremophilane-type sesquiterpenoids, namely, acremeremophilanes A-O (1-15), together with seven known analogues. The structures of new compounds were determined through extensive spectroscopic analyses, in association with chemical conversions and ECD calculati...
